Chocolate pudding with chocolate sauce

Serves 3-4

This is a simple dish that is cooked in the microwave. It can be served with cream instead of the sauce if preferred.

Ingredients

 

100g softened margarine

75g caster sugar

1 egg

50g cocoa powder

125g self rising flour

1 tbsp milk

 

For the sauce:

2 tbsp custard powder

1 tbsp cocoa powder

2-3 tbsp sugar (depending on your taste)

425-570ml (¾-1pint) milk

Method

  1. Cream together the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy
  2. Lightly beat the egg and add to the mixture
  3. Sift the flour and cocoa together
  4. Fold this into the mixture with a metal spoon until fully it is blended, then add the milk
  5. Grease a litre-sized microwaveable / dish and pour the mixture into it
  6. Microwave on high for 4 minutes, then leave to stand
  7. Make the sauce by blending together a small amount of the milk, sugar, custard powder and cocoa to form a paste
  8. Add the remaining milk to it, stir well and micowave for 5 minutes (or less) stirring regularly. When the sauce is thick give a final stir and leave to stand for 1 minute
  9. Turn out the pudding upside down on a plate. It will now be ready for serving with the sauce
